Tuesday Nov 17, 2020
Tuesday Nov 17, 2020
From the 1930s till the late 1960s, Warner Brothers made an extensive collection of short cartoons which they called Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. From these shorts came animated characters which still inspire laughter and love even today. And Geek Salad is here to discuss them in part 1 of episode 202: There's Baloney in Our Slacks!
Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine as they go over some of the true classics of the Warner Brothers animation archives. From major named like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck to lesser characters like Witch Hazel and the Goofy Gophers, they go over some of there favorites, and even some they aren't as fond of.
And be sure and come back for part 2 where they talk about a couple of Looney Tunes modern sequels.

Since 2008, Geek Salad has attempted to bring you the finest (and sometimes drunkest) of nerdly conversations! Now, we are proud to present our mega-sized 200th episode, this time with the our very special guests; Nik from the Black Girls Do Stuff Too podcast and Thomas from Movies After Work! Also joining us in a pre-recorded interview is Em from Verbal Diorama!
So while we’ve aged like fine wine, we discuss the things that we used to love that have aged like vinegar. If it’s a change in attitudes in regards to how we view different ethnic groups or different gender identities, to the poor aging of how our viewpoints in storytelling against things that were popular way back when, we’ve got some really great conversations!

Episode 193: Bryson and the Beast
Thursday Apr 23, 2020
Thursday Apr 23, 2020
It's 1991 and you've just enjoyed seeing the Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast. As the credits begin to scroll and you're getting ready to leave, suddenly you hear the song, "Beauty and the Beast", sung by Angela Lansbury in the film, however, this version is being sung by Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion. No, your ears are not playing a trick on you, that actually is a pop version of the beautiful song from the film. Disney did this to have a version of the song more amenable to being played on the radio. And they would continue to do this for fifteen animated movie songs from 1991 all the way to 2019 (and possibly beyond). Discussing these songs, for good or for ill, is the Geek Salad crew with episode 193: Bryson and the Beast.
Join Andy, Mike, Joe, Katherine, and increasingly regular guest Todd, as they go over all 15 songs and decide whether they were an upgrade to the film version, a downgrade, or just... whatever. Did Peabo really deserve to win two Grammy awards for his versions? And which song do the whole crew agree is just awful beyond measure? Listen in and find out.

Episode 189: Into the Ani-Verse (Part 1)
Sunday Feb 02, 2020
Sunday Feb 02, 2020
The year 2010 began a decade of some truly great animated movies. Obviously, Disney tends to dominate when it comes to animated films, but the other studios had their own share of excellent animation. So, to honor this positive trend, Geek Salad has decided to count down the top 20 animated films from 2010-2019 in episode 189: Into the Ani-Verse.
With a topic this big, the crew went a bit long (surprise, surprise), so it has been split into two parts. Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine, as well as recurring guest Todd, as they go over #20-#11 of the list. How many of the films do you think will be Disney? And what non-Disney films do you think might have snuck onto the list?
