Episode 119: Sony and the Bandicoot

Saturday, October 24th, 2015

20 years ago, after a nasty split with Nintendo, Sony went on to create one of the best selling gaming consoles of all time in the original Sony PlayStation, and the world would never be the same again.

With that bit of history out of the way, sit back and enjoy the memories with Andy, both Mikes, Joe, Katherine, and even a special guest in Katherine's boyfriend Joe as they chat about the many highs and a few lows of PlayStation in Geek Salad episode 119: Sony and the Bandicoot.

From the heights of Tomb Raider and Metal Gear Solid, to the lows of Masters of Teras Kasi, the crew indulge in their fond remembrances of the PlayStation games. Maybe they might even mention an RPG or two (*cough*Final Fantasy VII*cough*).

Episode 113: Mario - The True Hollywood Story

Monday, June 22nd, 2015

There have been a lot of truly iconic video game characters over the years, but towering above them all is the most heroic plumber in video game history, Mario! So join Andy, Mike G, Joe, Katherine, and special guest Joe H (Katherine's boyfriend) as they go over Mario's many ups and downs in Geek Salad episode 113: Mario - The True Hollywood Story.

The Geek Salad crew start at Mario's humble beginnings, as a carpenter called Jump-Man, fighting against Donkey Kong for the love of Pauline, all the way to his time on the Kart circuit, up to his conquering of the galaxy, and beyond. Oh yeah, and he also had a really s***ty movie made about him starring Bob Hoskins.

Episode 107: The Internet! It’s Not Just for Porn Anymore!

Wednesday, January 14th, 2015

The Internet! The amazing, mystical energy field that holds the universe together... or is that the Force? In any case, without the Internet, we wouldn't have all the wonderful forms of entertainment we do today. In fact, without the Internet, we wouldn't even have Geek Salad episode 107: The Internet! It's Not Just for Porn Anymore!

Join Andy, Mike G, Joe, Katherine, and special guest Joe (Katherine's boyfriend) as they go over some of their favorite Internet personalities, shows, podcasts, and general forms of entertainment (porn not included). Making this episode especially ironic is that they recorded it over the Internet thanks to Google Hangouts. So no, for once, the audio quality is not their fault.

Episode 84: The Last Son of Kryptin

Thursday, July 11th, 2013

In 1938, two creative young men came up with the idea of an alien from a destroyed planet who becomes one of the greatest superheroes the world has ever known, Superman. 74 years later, their groundbreaking vision has reached its ultimate form in Geek Salad episode 84: The Last Son of Kryptin (aka, Krypton, but as spoken by Marlon Brando).

Join Andy, Mike C, and Mike G as they use the entire show (sorry, no segments this time) to discuss Superman and all the wonders, and horrors, that his long legacy has wrought. They also tackle his villains (including Lex Luthor's horribly petty reason for hating Superman), his friends, his animal sidekicks, the multiple goofy versions of Kryptonite, and more. The guys even get into a knock-down, drag out fight over the merits of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel and the possibilities for the Justice League movie. Okay, it's more of a fierce debate... okay, more of a friendly debate.

Episode 81 deleted scenes

Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

As a special gift to the Geek Salad faithful, while we all wait for the gang to reassemble for the next episode, here is some extra audio that was recorded for episode 81, but was ultimately cut for time.

This audio includes the regular segments of Trailer Park (The Wolverine), Stupid Stupid (more Michael Bay idiocy), and Salad Shills (video games, vacations, and fun new technology). Enjoy and keep an eye out for episode 82 to be coming soon... we hope.
