Episode 158 (Side A/The Singles): Operation McFerrincrime
Tuesday Mar 20, 2018
Tuesday Mar 20, 2018
Here’s a little song I wrote…Makes you want to slit my throat…
…And with that, Geek Salad reviews the Music of 1988 with Episode 158: Operation McFerrincrime! On this side of the record, Mike, And, Katherine, and Joe discuss the top singles of the year. Among many One Week Wonders lie a few songs that completely overstayed their welcome, a couple of artists who we never thought we’d get rid of that suddenly disappeared, and a Thunder Dome-esque debate over the “good” to “unbelievable crappiness” merits of the “Beach Boys” Kokomo!

Episode 155: Playbill and Rent's Excellent Adventure
Sunday Jan 21, 2018
Sunday Jan 21, 2018
Please refrain from flash photography and make yourself comfortable…Geek Salad is going Broadway with our gala musical episode (disclaimer: outside of a couple of random parts here and there, nobody actually breaks out into song).
With the help of guests Matt Jones (i.e.; professional actor type) and Autumn (aka: “Mrs Andy”), as well as a MASSIVE swell of social media feedback, Andy, Mike, Katherine, and Joe cover many different eras and genres of musicals. While the discussion focuses on the typical Broadway show, the gang does talk about movie musicals, as well as sending Mike and Joe out to Thunderdome to discuss the TV (Stunt) Musical…
Due to the length of the discussion, we’ve put together playlists of much of the music discussed on the show. You can download the Spotify Playlist here
Or check out the YouTube Playlist here

Monday Jun 26, 2017
Monday Jun 26, 2017
Ahh, summer! Kids are out of school, adults are still at work being resentful of summer vacation, and people generally want to be outside and go on trips or just relax by the pool. On those hot summer weekends, when you're firing up the grill and need some tunes for entertainment, what are some of the best songs to crank the boombox to? Well worry no longer, for the Geek Salad crew is here to give some entries to their summer playlists with Geek Salad episode 146: Boombox Barbecue!
Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine all have very different ideas about what makes a great summer playlist, so even if one song doesn't work for you, there is sure to be a better one around the corner. Who will have the most eclectic mix? Who's playlist was primarily picked by their daughter? If you've been listening for any length of time, you probably already know the answers. But if not, then let the burgers sizzle and enjoy Boombox Barbecue! And even if you know the answers, go ahead and enjoy anyway, because... what the hell? And be sure to stick around after the conversation as Andy, Mike, and Joe give their review of Wonder Woman.

Episode 142: Movie Sign and Chill
Tuesday Apr 11, 2017
Tuesday Apr 11, 2017
For 10 seasons, the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 has been making some of the worst movies out there into hilarious viewing experiences. On April 14, 2017, the show returns with new episodes. In celebration of this momentous occurrence, Geek Salad has once again united to list off some of their favorite episodes and shorts from the show's history with Episode 142: Movie Sign and Chill.
Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine each come prepared with a list of some of their favorite moments in MST3K history. In which movie did we see the epic battle between Paul Anka and Mel Torme? Which short gives us valuable tips about what to do on a date? Is the short, "A Date with your Family" as creepy as it sounds (hint: Yes). All these questions, and more, are sure to be answered.

Episode 140: Dress + Animal Sidekick = Princess (Part 1)
Tuesday Mar 07, 2017
Tuesday Mar 07, 2017
In 1937, Walt Disney and his animation studio introduced the world to the concept of a feature length film done entirely in animation. Now, 80 years later, Walt Disney Animation Studios has 56 feature films to their credit. Counting down the top 25 of those proved too big a task for the Geek Salad crew so they put out the call to anyone who would listen and the result is Geek Salad episode 140: Dress + Animal Sidekick = Princess.
As it turns out, though, counting down the top 25 Disney animated feature films also proved to be a very long task, so this episode has been split into two more manageable pieces. This first part covers numbers 25 through 11.

Episode 139 (Side A): Joshua Tree 2: The Destruction of Bruno
Sunday Feb 05, 2017
Sunday Feb 05, 2017
1987….The year that yielded some of the best music of the entire decade. So why does the Top of the Charts look and sound like it was frozen in a time capsule from 1961? Andy, Mike, Katherine, and Joe try to discover the answer in Geek Salad’s Episode 139: Joshua Tree 2: The Destruction of Bruno, where they attempt to break through the notable singles of the year.
While there were some timely stalwarts of 80’s music; Madonna, Bon Jovi, U2, etc…the pop charts were littered with the likes of Lisa Lisa, Billy Vera (who wrote the breakup song to end all breakup songs for “Family Ties”), and Gregory (who?) Abbott…
…also, Mike will be hearing Kenny G’s “Songbird” for the first time, so be nice to him…!!!

Episode 138: The Discount Defenders!
Tuesday Jan 24, 2017
Tuesday Jan 24, 2017
Superheroes have been on television for almost as long as there has been television. However, things are considerably different now than when Superman would bust through cheap sets and Batman danced the Batusi. To go over the current crop of excellent (and not so excellent) superhero TV shows, join Andy, Mike, and Joe in Geek Salad episode 138: The Discount Defenders!
From DC's "Arrowverse" to Marvel's Defenders, the Geek Salad crew express their love, indifference, or dislike for all of the current comic-inspired TV shows (or as many as they can remember, anyway). Which Supergirl character do Andy and Mike completely disagree about? What do Mike and Joe think about the most recent seasons of Arrow? The answers to these questions and more (obviously) can be found within.
Sweet Christmas!
