On May 25th 1977, a film was released that would not only be a surprise hit, but a cultural phenomenon that has endured and strengthened in it’s popularity in the last four decades. And to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the Geek Salad team has sat down and recorded their audio commentary/comedic riff of this all-time classic.

Syndicated television shows really come in a few of different forms. There are the shows that were created for networks, first aired there, and then moved to syndicated after their run ended. There were shows that started on networks, but moved to syndication due to poor ratings and/or quality. And then there were the shows that were first aired on syndication. Well all three of these types will be discussed in Geek Salad episode 143: Syndicated Incorporated!
Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine as they go over their many memories of syndicated TV. For 10 seasons, the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 has been making some of the worst movies out there into hilarious viewing experiences. On April 14, 2017, the show returns with new episodes. In celebration of this momentous occurrence, Geek Salad has once again united to list off some of their favorite episodes and shorts from the show's history with Episode 142: Movie Sign and Chill.

In 1937, Walt Disney and his animation studio introduced the world to the concept of a feature length film done entirely in animation. Now, 80 years later, Walt Disney Animation Studios has 56 feature films to their credit. Counting down the top 25 of those proved too big a task for the Geek Salad crew so they put out the call to anyone who would listen and the result is Geek Salad episode 140: Dress + Animal Sidekick = Princess.
As it turns out, though, counting down the top 25 Disney animated feature films also proved to be a very long task, so this episode has been split into two more manageable pieces. This first part covers numbers 25 through 11.

1987….The year that yielded some of the best music of the entire decade. So why does the Top of the Charts look and sound like it was frozen in a time capsule from 1961? Andy, Mike, Katherine, and Joe try to discover the answer in Geek Salad’s Episode 139: Joshua Tree 2: The Destruction of Bruno, where they attempt to break through the notable singles of the year.
While there were some timely stalwarts of 80’s music; Madonna, Bon Jovi, U2, etc…the pop charts were littered with the likes of Lisa Lisa, Billy Vera (who wrote the breakup song to end all breakup songs for “Family Ties”), and Gregory (who?) Abbott…

Superheroes have been on television for almost as long as there has been television. However, things are considerably different now than when Superman would bust through cheap sets and Batman danced the Batusi.
