Animated movies and TV specials that try to toe the line between family-friendly and horror can be rather hit or miss. There are some really charming ones out there, though. So, to run through some of their favorites (with a few dishonorable mentions thrown in for good measure), the Geek Salad crew is back with Geek Salad episode 241: It's the Headless Horseman, Charlie Brown.
Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine as they go through some choice animated movies and specials that are either made specifically for Halloween or are spooky enough to be enjoyed then. Now they will not be touching on projects made by Tim Burton as everyone would immediately go to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Instead, they discuss some projects that might not be as well known.

When a book is very successful, they often make more books in that series. If it's even more successful, they often make a movie based on one or more of those books. If the movie is successful, then they make multiple movies based on the multiple books. Got all that? Well so do the Geek Salad crew as they discuss movie series based on book series in episode 240: Ian Fleming's Rings of Twilight Hunger.

From Ian Fleming's super spy series to a rather unknown fantasy one about hobbits, they tackle all they can think of. Tolkien, himself, would approve of this super-sized episode... maybe. Hard to say with that one.

Most people will agree that Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney Jr were not Academy Award quality actors. However, no one can doubt that they cemented their place in Hollywood history by bringing to life some of the most iconic movie monsters of all time. So, to honor their accomplishments, the Geek Salad crew are devoting their 11th annual Halloween episode to discussing the highs and lows of the Universal Monster movies in episode 169: A Graveyard Smash.

1987 will always be seen as a really excellent year for fun, excellent movies. Why, just look at the top 10 highest grossing movies of that year and you'll see... umm... Stakeout was... uh... and Moonstruck is still talked a... well... Three Men and a Baby?!?
