Episode 172: The Wishbook of Shattered Dreams

Saturday, December 22nd, 2018

It’s the Holiday Season! And the Geek Salad gang is sippin’ on eggnog and reminiscing about Christmases past….most specifically what they circled in their favorite department store Christmas wish books….and what they did (or didn’t) get under the tree in their respective years!

So gather around the fireplace and ask yourself one question:  “How much would any of this stuff that I demanded from Santa actually end up costing my parents?”  The answer will make you weep….

Also, stick around for a quick wrap up of this interminable year of 2018, including a discussion about The Avengers: Endgame trailer!

Episode 123: Old Men Sitting In Caves Distributing Swords

Friday, January 29th, 2016

It’s dangerous to go alone….take this!!!

…and with those words, the children of the 80’s blew into their golden cartridges, prayed that the included battery saved their game data, and went on their quest to save the Princess Zelda.

Now, Mike, Andy, and Joe discuss the enduring legacy that is the quest of Link in the Legend of Zelda games.  They discuss the triumphs, like the original game, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess, to the failures of Majoro’s Mask, Link’s Adventure, and the CD-i games that were so awful, they were scrubbed from the Zelda continuity.

Then, hang out as the boys discuss the latest “Suicide Squad” trailer.

Then, buckle in for the depressing third of the show, where the gang discusses the recent deaths of Glen Frey, Alan Rickman, and David Bowie…

Episode 119: Sony and the Bandicoot

Saturday, October 24th, 2015

20 years ago, after a nasty split with Nintendo, Sony went on to create one of the best selling gaming consoles of all time in the original Sony PlayStation, and the world would never be the same again.

With that bit of history out of the way, sit back and enjoy the memories with Andy, both Mikes, Joe, Katherine, and even a special guest in Katherine's boyfriend Joe as they chat about the many highs and a few lows of PlayStation in Geek Salad episode 119: Sony and the Bandicoot.

From the heights of Tomb Raider and Metal Gear Solid, to the lows of Masters of Teras Kasi, the crew indulge in their fond remembrances of the PlayStation games. Maybe they might even mention an RPG or two (*cough*Final Fantasy VII*cough*).

Episode 113: Mario - The True Hollywood Story

Monday, June 22nd, 2015

There have been a lot of truly iconic video game characters over the years, but towering above them all is the most heroic plumber in video game history, Mario! So join Andy, Mike G, Joe, Katherine, and special guest Joe H (Katherine's boyfriend) as they go over Mario's many ups and downs in Geek Salad episode 113: Mario - The True Hollywood Story.

The Geek Salad crew start at Mario's humble beginnings, as a carpenter called Jump-Man, fighting against Donkey Kong for the love of Pauline, all the way to his time on the Kart circuit, up to his conquering of the galaxy, and beyond. Oh yeah, and he also had a really s***ty movie made about him starring Bob Hoskins.
