Back in 1984, kids had lost interest in most of the toy lines of the day. Then, Hasbro released the Transformers line, and kids now had toys that could be cars, trucks, jets, and guns, as well as kick-ass robots! Now the Geek Salad team of Joe, Andy, and Mike discuss the toy line, as well as the multiple cartoon and comic book series and the 1986 animated movie.
Then, they’ll put their film school nerd caps on to discuss everything wrong with the dumpster fire that is the Michael Bay Transformers series. It’s at this point that Andy will go off on proper character motivation and action sequencing while Joe and Mike bang their heads against the coffee table trying to figure out how, in God’s name, you can screw up the Dinobots!!!!

Ahh, summer! Kids are out of school, adults are still at work being resentful of summer vacation, and people generally want to be outside and go on trips or just relax by the pool. On those hot summer weekends, when you're firing up the grill and need some tunes for entertainment, what are some of the best songs to crank the boombox to? On May 25th 1977, a film was released that would not only be a surprise hit, but a cultural phenomenon that has endured and strengthened in it’s popularity in the last four decades. And to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the Geek Salad team has sat down and recorded their audio commentary/comedic riff of this all-time classic.
Feel free to pair this along with your DVD/Blu-Ray of Star Wars Ep. IV (the Special Edition…sorry purists…) and listen to the commentary as it happens throughout the movie!

Syndicated television shows really come in a few of different forms. There are the shows that were created for networks, first aired there, and then moved to syndicated after their run ended. There were shows that started on networks, but moved to syndication due to poor ratings and/or quality. And then there were the shows that were first aired on syndication. Well all three of these types will be discussed in Geek Salad episode 143: Syndicated Incorporated!

For 10 seasons, the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 has been making some of the worst movies out there into hilarious viewing experiences. On April 14, 2017, the show returns with new episodes. In celebration of this momentous occurrence, Geek Salad has once again united to list off some of their favorite episodes and shorts from the show's history with Episode 142: Movie Sign and Chill.

In 1937, Walt Disney and his animation studio introduced the world to the concept of a feature length film done entirely in animation. Now, 80 years later, Walt Disney Animation Studios has 56 feature films to their credit. Counting down the top 25 of those proved too big a task for the Geek Salad crew so they put out the call to anyone who would listen and the result is Geek Salad episode 140: Dress + Animal Sidekick = Princess.
As it turns out, though, counting down the top 25 Disney animated feature films also proved to be a very long task, so this episode has been split into two more manageable pieces. This first part covers numbers 25 through 11.
