1995 had hundreds of movies released that year. You already have heard Geek Salad cover the top 15 domestic box office winners of the year, but that only covers a small portion of the movies released. So now, the gang is back to cover some of the other more memorable movies from 1995, be they memorable for good reasons, or for not so good reasons.
Andy and Mike are once again joined by Em from the Verbal Diorama Podcast (listen wherever you get your podcasts) and Kurt Smith (check out his reviews on Letterboxd) as they cover both the best picture nominees from that year, as well as some of their personal favorites. There are a lot of really negative things going on in the world, especially this year. This can really lead some people to have less than ideal mental outlooks. There were so many great films that didn't make it into the top 10 highest grossing movies of 1993, than the actual top 10 must have been phenomenal, right? Not necessarily. And to discuss that very subject, the Geek Salad crew is once again joined by Em from the Verbal Diorama podcast for the second part of episode 242: Every Inhouse, Outhouse, and Doghouse.
Re-join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine, as well as Em, as they discuss the top 10 highest grossing (domestically) movies of 1993 and how, for the most part, they pale in comparison to movies that made FAR less. However, that doesn't mean all of the top 10 were forgettable films. A few are rightfully considered as truly great films. #1, in particular, is still regarded as a cinematic milestone. So kick back and hold onto your butts for the rest of their discussion of the movies of 1993.

When a book is very successful, they often make more books in that series. If it's even more successful, they often make a movie based on one or more of those books. If the movie is successful, then they make multiple movies based on the multiple books. Got all that? Well so do the Geek Salad crew as they discuss movie series based on book series in episode 240: Ian Fleming's Rings of Twilight Hunger.
Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine as they go over some of the good movie franchises, bad movie franchises (or bad attempts at franchises) and some that are more of a mixed bag. From Ian Fleming's super spy series to a rather unknown fantasy one about hobbits, they tackle all they can think of. Tolkien, himself, would approve of this super-sized episode... maybe. Hard to say with that one.
