While doing their yearly retrospecticons on the movies and musics of 30 years ago, Geek Salad had neglected to cover the movies of 1981. Well this oversight has finally been corrected as the crew finally brings you episode 156: An American Werewolf on Golden Pond. "The loons, Norman! The... AHHHHHHHH!!!" That might have made me interested in seeing that movie, if I'm honest.
Yes, from Time Bandits to Raiders of the Lost Ark, Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine tackle 1981's top ten grossing films before heading into some of the more memorable (for good or for ill) films of the year that also gave us Donkey Kong.

We truly live in a golden age of Comic Book movies. Much like the second golden age of comics in the early 1980’s, the Nerd Generation has never had such an embarrassment of riches….
….however, these are not the movies we’re discussing this week. We’ve again taken the votes of the Geek Salad listening audience and compiled the Top 15 Worst Comic Book Based movies of all time! Join Joe, Andy, and Mike as they count down the head-scratchingly awful, the “How could they possibly continue to get Fantastic Four wrong???”, and Joe’s all but giving up on the DCEU…at least it’s getting harder for him to defend it!

1987 will always be seen as a really excellent year for fun, excellent movies. Why, just look at the top 10 highest grossing movies of that year and you'll see... umm... Stakeout was... uh... and Moonstruck is still talked a... well... Three Men and a Baby?!?
Okay, despite the top 10 of that year, there were some truly great films to come out of 1987. Yes, Geek Salad is back to go over the hits and misses of 1987 movies with episode 148: Evil Will Always Triumph Because Good is Dumb. Back in 1984, kids had lost interest in most of the toy lines of the day. Then, Hasbro released the Transformers line, and kids now had toys that could be cars, trucks, jets, and guns, as well as kick-ass robots! Now the Geek Salad team of Joe, Andy, and Mike discuss the toy line, as well as the multiple cartoon and comic book series and the 1986 animated movie.
Then, they’ll put their film school nerd caps on to discuss everything wrong with the dumpster fire that is the Michael Bay Transformers series. It’s at this point that Andy will go off on proper character motivation and action sequencing while Joe and Mike bang their heads against the coffee table trying to figure out how, in God’s name, you can screw up the Dinobots!!!!

On May 25th 1977, a film was released that would not only be a surprise hit, but a cultural phenomenon that has endured and strengthened in it’s popularity in the last four decades. And to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the Geek Salad team has sat down and recorded their audio commentary/comedic riff of this all-time classic.

Syndicated television shows really come in a few of different forms. There are the shows that were created for networks, first aired there, and then moved to syndicated after their run ended. There were shows that started on networks, but moved to syndication due to poor ratings and/or quality. And then there were the shows that were first aired on syndication. Well all three of these types will be discussed in Geek Salad episode 143: Syndicated Incorporated!
