Episode 158 (Side B/The Albums): Operation McFerrincrime
Wednesday Mar 28, 2018
Wednesday Mar 28, 2018
…I remember now…
…and we remember last week when Geek Salad discussed the singles of 1988. Now, here comes Side 2 of Operation McFerrincrime…The Albums! Check out the discussion as Joe, Katherine, Mike, and Andy discuss their favorite albums from 1988. So expect a grand discussion over the merits of a Cetera-less Chicago, as well nobody else being able to recognize most of Andy’s choices!
Also, special thanks to writerjax.net for her awesome article on her choices for the best albums of 88!

Episode 158 (Side A/The Singles): Operation McFerrincrime
Tuesday Mar 20, 2018
Tuesday Mar 20, 2018
Here’s a little song I wrote…Makes you want to slit my throat…
…And with that, Geek Salad reviews the Music of 1988 with Episode 158: Operation McFerrincrime! On this side of the record, Mike, And, Katherine, and Joe discuss the top singles of the year. Among many One Week Wonders lie a few songs that completely overstayed their welcome, a couple of artists who we never thought we’d get rid of that suddenly disappeared, and a Thunder Dome-esque debate over the “good” to “unbelievable crappiness” merits of the “Beach Boys” Kokomo!

Episode 157: Two and a Half Meningitis
Tuesday Mar 13, 2018
Tuesday Mar 13, 2018
We all have TV shows that we absolutely love and go back episode after episode to follow along with the story and characters. However, we all also know of a show that we truly loved, but found it getting stale, dull, and/or just plain stupid the longer it remained on the air. In honor of those shows that refused to quit even after the writing did, Geek Salad presents episode 157: Two and a Half Menengitis.
Join Andy, Joe, and Mike as they discuss some of their favorite shows which slowly, or rapidly, devolved into some of their least favorite shows when they refused to end. Did ER really need to go 7 seasons after losing Anthony Edwards? Is Family Guy still on the air? And Heroes was only heroic for the first season of a 4 season run.

#NotMyGeekSalad : A Geek Salad Side Salad Discussion
Wednesday Feb 28, 2018

So there is a straw that finally broke Geek Salad’s camel’s back…toxic fandom. Pretty much, the last couple of years have produced some of the most maddening arguments and, quite frankly, some of the worst people that humanity has produced (thanks GamerGate!), all due to something that we either love, or “love”….
So as a quick, non-cannonical, aside to our episodes, Andy, Joe, and Mike discuss toxic fandom!

Episode 156: An American Werewolf on Golden Pond
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
While doing their yearly retrospecticons on the movies and musics of 30 years ago, Geek Salad had neglected to cover the movies of 1981. Well this oversight has finally been corrected as the crew finally brings you episode 156: An American Werewolf on Golden Pond. "The loons, Norman! The... AHHHHHHHH!!!" That might have made me interested in seeing that movie, if I'm honest.
Yes, from Time Bandits to Raiders of the Lost Ark, Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine tackle 1981's top ten grossing films before heading into some of the more memorable (for good or for ill) films of the year that also gave us Donkey Kong.

Please refrain from flash photography and make yourself comfortable…Geek Salad is going Broadway with our gala musical episode (disclaimer: outside of a couple of random parts here and there, nobody actually breaks out into song).
With the help of guests Matt Jones (i.e.; professional actor type) and Autumn (aka: “Mrs Andy”), as well as a MASSIVE swell of social media feedback, Andy, Mike, Katherine, and Joe cover many different eras and genres of musicals. While the discussion focuses on the typical Broadway show, the gang does talk about movie musicals, as well as sending Mike and Joe out to Thunderdome to discuss the TV (Stunt) Musical…
Due to the length of the discussion, we’ve put together playlists of much of the music discussed on the show. You can download the Spotify Playlist here
Or check out the YouTube Playlist here

In space, no one can hear you scream….that goes double if you’re watching any of the “Alien” movies past 1986’s “Aliens.”
So to celebrate Geek Salad’s 10th Annual Halloween show, Mike, Katherine, Joe, and Andy sit down to discuss the horror that is the “Alien” movie series.
From Ridley Scott’s tense 1979 entry into the series, to the clunky schlock-fests in the “Alien vs. Predator” series, and back to Scott’s navel-gazing into the prequels, we’ve got you covered!

Episode 151: Nintendon't!
Sunday Oct 15, 2017
Sunday Oct 15, 2017
Video game technology has certainly come a long way since its beginnings, and along that path, there have also been a large number of missteps. So break out your Atari Jaguars and Nintendo Virtual Boys as Geek Salad breaks down some video game fails in Episode 151: Nintendon't!
Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine along with special guest Other Joe, Katherine's husband, and a triumphant return by original co-host, Mike C. They are pulling out all the stops to remember all the games and systems that brought us pain and misery through the years. Whether it was hours upon hours of dying in the original NES game of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles simply because my favorite turtle is Raphael, or trying to work out what kinds of drugs the designer of the Nokia N-Gage was on, they tackle the most memorable failures.

Episode 149: Duck Boobs and Bat Nipples
Saturday Sep 02, 2017
Saturday Sep 02, 2017
We truly live in a golden age of Comic Book movies. Much like the second golden age of comics in the early 1980’s, the Nerd Generation has never had such an embarrassment of riches….
….however, these are not the movies we’re discussing this week. We’ve again taken the votes of the Geek Salad listening audience and compiled the Top 15 Worst Comic Book Based movies of all time! Join Joe, Andy, and Mike as they count down the head-scratchingly awful, the “How could they possibly continue to get Fantastic Four wrong???”, and Joe’s all but giving up on the DCEU…at least it’s getting harder for him to defend it!
Also, special thanks to David McLain, who lends his voice to discuss his choices for the mediocre movies of the genre! Do him a solid and check out his book, The Time Traveler’s Resort and Museum, which is available to purchase at Amazon!

Episode 148: Evil Will Always Triumph Because Good is Dumb
Thursday Aug 17, 2017
Thursday Aug 17, 2017
1987 will always be seen as a really excellent year for fun, excellent movies. Why, just look at the top 10 highest grossing movies of that year and you'll see... umm... Stakeout was... uh... and Moonstruck is still talked a... well... Three Men and a Baby?!?
Okay, despite the top 10 of that year, there were some truly great films to come out of 1987. Yes, Geek Salad is back to go over the hits and misses of 1987 movies with episode 148: Evil Will Always Triumph Because Good is Dumb. Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine as they discuss such gems as The Princess Bride, Spaceballs, Ernest Goes to Camp, and... Jaws: The Revenge. Okay, so they aren't all gems.
