Episode 169: A Graveyard Smash
Monday Oct 29, 2018
Monday Oct 29, 2018
Most people will agree that Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney Jr were not Academy Award quality actors. However, no one can doubt that they cemented their place in Hollywood history by bringing to life some of the most iconic movie monsters of all time. So, to honor their accomplishments, the Geek Salad crew are devoting their 11th annual Halloween episode to discussing the highs and lows of the Universal Monster movies in episode 169: A Graveyard Smash.
Join Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine as they chat about Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, and many more of the Universal monster films of the 1930s and on, including the times when they all met Abbot & Costello. So turn on all the lights, grab a silver cross and lighted torch, and join along with the Geek Salad crew in wondering when they'll get around to making The Detached Duplex of Dracula.

Episode 166a: Song of the [Redacted] - Part 1

While Walt Disney Pictures may be most widely known for their animated films, Walt quickly learned that live action films are quicker and cheaper to make, and help bring in money so he could make more animated movies. So, from 1946 onwards, Disney has made hundreds of live action films! With so many to their credit, though, not all of them are gems. In fact, most of them are pretty forgettable. But worry not! Geek Salad is here to go over some of the best, and worst, of the lot in Geek Salad episode 166: Song of the
Join Andy, Mike, and Joe as they go decade by decade, discussing some of the shining gems, and some of the not so shining duds. As what usually happens with Disney-related episodes, though, they did go on a bit long. Thus, the episode is split in half, with Part 1 going from the 1940s to the 1970s.
Do you love Mary Poppins? Do you remember The Gnome-Mobile? Did the banshee in Darby O'Gill and the Little People scare you as much as it did our intrepid hosts? If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then this episode is for you! If you answered "No", then go ahead and listen, anyway. We're all inclusive!

On August 12, 2008, Mike C and Andy opened the Geek Salad studio for the first time and laid forth their first episode “The Sleeper Has Awakened.” More than 165 shows later, Andy is joined by Mike G, Katherine, and Joe to celebrate Geek Salad’s 10th anniversary with “The Sleeper Hears Ya, The Sleeper Don’t Care!”
Join the team as they discuss their first introduction to the Geek Salad audience as well as discussing the biggest geek moments and movements of the past 10 years! Included in the conversation are topics ranging from Disney buying up every property we care about, the mainstream popularity of cosplay, and the sexist, racist, shout factory hellscape that the internet has become!

Episode 164: The Nakatomi Family Christmas
Saturday Jul 28, 2018
Saturday Jul 28, 2018
When you think of some of the truly excellent and beloved movies of the late 1980s, it is genuinely shocking how many came from 1988. From Die Hard to Beetlejuice, some real gems came out of this year. Of course, there were some stink piles, as well. To help sort through some of these, the Geek Salad crew has returned to cover the movies that came out 30 years ago in episode 164: The Nakatomi Family Christmas.
Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine go through some of the most memorable films of 1988, for good or for ill, listing out the top 10 domestic grossing films of the year along with others that stand out in their minds. So if you had your sexual awakening to Jessica Rabbit, or simply believe that perhaps we didn't need a sequel to Crocodile Dundee, than sit back and enjoy. Even if those two qualifications don't match up with you, you can enjoy it, as well.
Seriously... what did Jessica see in that rabbit?!?

Episode 159: Who is Sally and Why Does She Like Mexico?
Thursday May 03, 2018
Thursday May 03, 2018
Out of all the filmmakers of the past 50 years, perhaps of all time, few have been as popular nor seminal as Steven Spielberg. To celebrate the life and films of a man often considered one of the greatest directors of all time, Geek Salad discusses all things Spielberg in episode 159: Who is Sally and Why Does She Like Mexico?
Join Andy, Joe, and Mike as they discuss the many highs (Jaws, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park) and relatively few but still very lows (1941, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones) of Steven Spielberg. From his TV movie, Duel, all the way to Andy and Mike's *very* differing reviews of Ready Player One. They will delve deep and try and discover the identity of Sally!

Episode 156: An American Werewolf on Golden Pond
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
While doing their yearly retrospecticons on the movies and musics of 30 years ago, Geek Salad had neglected to cover the movies of 1981. Well this oversight has finally been corrected as the crew finally brings you episode 156: An American Werewolf on Golden Pond. "The loons, Norman! The... AHHHHHHHH!!!" That might have made me interested in seeing that movie, if I'm honest.
Yes, from Time Bandits to Raiders of the Lost Ark, Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine tackle 1981's top ten grossing films before heading into some of the more memorable (for good or for ill) films of the year that also gave us Donkey Kong.

Episode 152: MU-TH-UR is a Bitch!
Thursday Oct 26, 2017
Thursday Oct 26, 2017
In space, no one can hear you scream….that goes double if you’re watching any of the “Alien” movies past 1986’s “Aliens.”
So to celebrate Geek Salad’s 10th Annual Halloween show, Mike, Katherine, Joe, and Andy sit down to discuss the horror that is the “Alien” movie series.
From Ridley Scott’s tense 1979 entry into the series, to the clunky schlock-fests in the “Alien vs. Predator” series, and back to Scott’s navel-gazing into the prequels, we’ve got you covered!

Episode 127: Under the Sea with Prince Ali
Tuesday May 03, 2016

Ever since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered in 1937, Disney's films have, for the most part, been widely praised for their music. Whether a jaunty upbeat song like "I Just Can't Wait to be King", or a touching love song like "Candle on the Water", the songs are sometimes even more beloved than the films that spawn them. And so, to honor those wonderful tunes, Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine are counting down the top 22 Disney songs as voted by the Geek Salad audience in episode 127: Under the Sea with Prince Ali!
