Episode 150: Chimichangas and Shawarma, A-holes! part 2 (The Whedon Cut)

Friday, September 22nd, 2017

The Geek Salad crew has returned to finish off their countdown of the top 20 comic book movies of all time in Geek Salad episode 150: Chimichangas and Shawarma, A-holes! part 2 (The Whedon Cut).

Andy, Mike, and Joe are back and they're ready to reveal the top 10 comic book movies. Will The Dark Knight hold onto it's top spot from the episode 50 list? Where will The Avengers sit on the list (considering the last list was made before The Avengers came out), because we know it will make the list somewhere. That movie was awesome! <editorial comment>

Episode 150: Chimichangas and Shawarma, A-holes! part 1 (The Donner Cut)

Saturday, September 16th, 2017

After suffering through the horrors of the top 15 worst comic book movies of all time, it's time to step back into the light. Yes, once again, the Geek Salad crew of Andy, Mike, and Joe assemble to tabulate the votes and count down the top 20 best comic book movies of all time in Geek Salad episode 150: Chimichangas and Shawarma, A-holes!

In fact, this list is so superheroic, it had to be seperated into two parts. Thus, here we present part 1, affectionately known as The Donner Cut. Here we cover numbers 20-11. How many films from the countdown 100 episodes, and six years, ago will still be on the list? Will Superman soar to the top? Will Wolverine crawl past the others? Will I run out of superhero puns? Listen and find out!

Episode 149: Duck Boobs and Bat Nipples

Saturday, September 2nd, 2017

We truly live in a golden age of Comic Book movies.  Much like the second golden age of comics in the early 1980’s, the Nerd Generation has never had such an embarrassment of riches….

….however, these are not the movies we’re discussing this week. We’ve again taken the votes of the Geek Salad listening audience and compiled the Top 15 Worst Comic Book Based movies of all time!  Join Joe, Andy, and Mike as they count down the head-scratchingly awful, the “How could they possibly continue to get Fantastic Four wrong???”, and Joe’s all but giving up on the DCEU…at least it’s getting harder for him to defend it!

Also, special thanks to David McLain, who lends his voice to discuss his choices for the mediocre movies of the genre!   Do him a solid and check out his book, The Time Traveler’s Resort and Museum, which is available to purchase at Amazon!

Episode 146: Boombox Barbecue

Monday, June 26th, 2017

Ahh, summer! Kids are out of school, adults are still at work being resentful of summer vacation, and people generally want to be outside and go on trips or just relax by the pool. On those hot summer weekends, when you're firing up the grill and need some tunes for entertainment, what are some of the best songs to crank the boombox to? Well worry no longer, for the Geek Salad crew is here to give some entries to their summer playlists with Geek Salad episode 146: Boombox Barbecue!

Andy, Mike, Joe, and Katherine all have very different ideas about what makes a great summer playlist, so even if one song doesn't work for you, there is sure to be a better one around the corner. Who will have the most eclectic mix? Who's playlist was primarily picked by their daughter? If you've been listening for any length of time, you probably already know the answers. But if not, then let the burgers sizzle and enjoy Boombox Barbecue! And even if you know the answers, go ahead and enjoy anyway, because... what the hell? And be sure to stick around after the conversation as Andy, Mike, and Joe give their review of Wonder Woman.

Episode 138: The Discount Defenders!

Tuesday, January 24th, 2017

Superheroes have been on television for almost as long as there has been television. However, things are considerably different now than when Superman would bust through cheap sets and Batman danced the Batusi. To go over the current crop of excellent (and not so excellent) superhero TV shows, join Andy, Mike, and Joe in Geek Salad episode 138: The Discount Defenders!

From DC's "Arrowverse" to Marvel's Defenders, the Geek Salad crew express their love, indifference, or dislike for all of the current comic-inspired TV shows (or as many as they can remember, anyway). Which Supergirl character do Andy and Mike completely disagree about? What do Mike and Joe think about the most recent seasons of Arrow? The answers to these questions and more (obviously) can be found within.

Sweet Christmas!
